I had the same thought: why not define one or more new functions in .ctwmrc
using the 'f.exec string' mechanism (the string is passed to /bin/sh for
execution).

I tried a menu option invoking 'aplay' with a .wav file using this mechanism and
it worked fine. But I have no idea what rplay does, so this comparison may be
irrelevant.

Perhaps .ctwmrc doesn't provide syntax for the events required to produce
sounds?

Apologies if my ignorance makes this comment totally irrelevant.
