On Mon, May 08, 2017 at 12:08:14PM +0100 I heard the voice of Aaron Sloman, and lo! it spake thus: > > I somehow failed to take note of an earlier discussion about this
[...] > I apologize for not noticing this proposal and commenting earlier -- > I was very busy in March. Serves me right, Indeed it does! As if there's anything in the world except ctwm to pay attention to... > My instinct is always not to reverse a default that has been set for > many years. [...] > > Users who don't like the old default will presumably already have > worked out (long ago?) that they can use SortIconManager. Well, yes. But if 90% of configs and people have the same boolean setting, that's probably a sign that the default is dumb :p We certainly wouldn't want to make it a weekly thing to go around changing defaults, but I don't believe "never" is the right choice either. Every couple decades hardly seems excessive, and if there's one thing software needs, it's fewer --unbreak-me options. -- Matthew Fuller (MF4839) | [email protected] Systems/Network Administrator | http://www.over-yonder.net/~fullermd/ On the Internet, nobody can hear you scream.
