Some time ago I mentioned the need to be able to tell the iconmanager not
to keep changing the label for a window, just because a different tab
is opened, which happened because firefox changes its window title
to match the current tab.

Because firefox is such a memory hog, constantly growing in size even when
not being used, I've mostly switched to opera, which has become far more
responsive since being based on chromium.

It now has other problems, e.g. ignoring default windows size specification
in ~/.Xdefaults and giving ALL windows the label 'Untitled', which then
makes it very difficult to use the iconmanager to find and expand a desired
window.

I may be forced to develop a scheme that involves opening some number of
empty opera windows for use with different categories of web site e.g.
news, my remote accounts, departmental information, conferences, etc. and
always and prhaps displaying a small hand-made window reminding me of the
categories and their order, which I'll have to edit when I add a new
window or delete an old one.

Then when I want to go to the relevant panel in the iconmanager I'll have
to count down to the required one. (Then scan tabs.)

This is all needed because I use a browser as my dynamic record of current
projects and tasks with web sites associated to each. Some tasks go on for
weeks (e.g. a collection of pages related to an approaching conference)
or web sites on which I post papers, an email site.

I wonder if anyone has a better solution. Is there some way to force an
opera window to have a title? Then the ctwm iconmanager will just use it
and I won't have to build my own index.

I've posted a complaint/request to opera, but got no answer.

Meanwhile I have a small editable text window in which I can summarise
contents of different browser windows in the iconmanager order.
It's a hassle, but usable.

Thanks.
