Hello everyone!
I got a Framework 16 (https://frame.work) this past summer, installed Fedora 40, and configured ctwm (even getting the keys remapped and the trackpad working the way I like). It's been working great through the 6.10 kernels. Then I upgraded to a 6.11 kernel and something strange happened... When I boot into a 6.11 kernel and start Xorg-X11 with "startx", everything seems to start up fine. But once all the starup apps come up (xdaliclock, gkrellm, xterm), then things kinda stop. I can put the focux on an xterm window and type, but only one character will appear. However, as I move the mouse, other characters start appearing. Then I noticed that gkrellm wasn't updating every second like it should. But if I move the mouse, it will continue to update. When the mouse stops, the screen stops updating. So it seems like X is getting "stuck" and only processes X events when it gets pointer-move signals. I've never seen this happen before. When I boot back to a 6.10 kernel, everything is fine. When I run Gnome in xorg from the graphical.target booted system, everything is fine. I also have Fedora 40 on a Dell laptop for work. It is running a 6.11 kernel along with CTWM with no problems. I also have a Gentoo server that runs CTWM in Xorg-X11 with no problems, but it's still on kernel 6.6. I've been running Linux from the beginning. But X11 and the GUI is a weak area of knowledge for me. I'm not even sure where to look to get debugging information. Can anyone give me any advice where I can look for the problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. -- -Mike Rident stolidi verba Latina. -Ovid
