BTW, it'll become even easier for me if you make your patches with 'git
format-patch' and if you include CHANGES and RELEASE-NOTES updates with
the patch.
If we are careful about how we do the commit comments, maybe we could
get the changes and release-notes directly out of git and deprecate
those files (or just update them right before release with output from
git) ?
