With problems related to the SSH libs, it will be helpful if you can try using those libraries only (without curl) to see if you can reproduce the problem then too, since then it is easier to see who "owns" the problem. It seems reasonable to assume, I think, that the source of these problems are actually located in the SSH layer.
Independently of that, it would also help if you built/used the libssh library you use when reproducing the crash with debug symbols still present so that the stack traces get more details!
