I've just updated www/icedtea-web to the latest snapshot which has fixed java applets working under Firefox on at least my NetBSD/amd64 6.1_STABLE system.
I'm curious to hear if it help anyone else... The version you will need is icedtea-web-1.5prenb8, which will use openjdk7-1.7.25nb4 Obviously only run java applets from trusted sources :-p Thanks
