Actually, you're probably seeing a side-effect of the bug Taylor
just reported in PR bin/58749 and for which I just committed a fix.
So, before bothering with any of the other suggestions, update again
to a version built from sources no earlier than the date of this e-mail.
(about 23:40 UTC Oct 12) and see if that fixes things. (You really
only need to update the src/bin/sh sources, and rebuild with the latest
of that, you want miscbltin.c 1.56 (or 1.54 or earlier, 1.55 is broken).
