Check that /boot and /usr/mdec/boot are copies of the same file. If not
copy the version from /usr/mdec to /boot and see what happens next time
you need to boot. From the banner you posted in the initial message, I
think they probably are the same, but it is worth checking.
If they are the same, send the output of
ls -ilR /*netbsd*
kre
