Thanks for the pointer. As a matter of fact, I have both 2.13 and
2.57 with autoconf defaulting to the earlier version. Nonetheless
it's a bit irritating that later on the script wizard reports:
fptools configure script wizard sez: autoconf-2.50 or later should produce no
warnings
if you are using 2.13 or earlier you may get a (harmless) warning message.
which seems to imply that 2.13 is fine.
