What brought on this sudden desire to clean up our autoconf stuff, BTW?
It's greatly appreciated, anyway.
I wonder if the autoconf scripts can be modularised at all; e.g. move a
lot of the stuff that is only used by GHC into GHC's configure.in (oops
configure.ac). I suppose that might mean that we would need two
separate config.h's.
