Hello,
I'd like to set up a BuildBot for Solaris 10 running on Sparc for
GHC. If you are interested, please tell me, so I will send you the
details.
Best regards,
Florian

Hi,
perhaps, this is of more interest, when I also mention that I'd like
to fix the Sparc native code generator. I will not be able to do it
very quickly, because I have to read (and understand) a lot of stuff
beforehand, so if anybody else is quicker, no problem. Otherwise, I'd
be happy if someone could point me to more docs worth reading besides
the commentary (and the code, of course) and perhaps give some hints
in what sense it is 'bitrotted' (like it says in ticket #606).
The NCG has gone through at least one major overhaul since the Sparc code
generator was last working, so I imagine it'll need a lot of work. If I
were quoting for the job, I'd give it 3-4 weeks full time to get everything
working (I'm not particularly familiar with the Sparc architecture, but I
am familiar with the GHC NCG, I expect the reverse is true for you).
Bear in mind that I'd like to do a lot of refactoring in the NCG if I ever
get time. The way the code is all mixed up using #ifdefs is a complete
nightmare. I started to unpick it, but don't have anything working yet and
the code has moved on since I started so I now also a merging nightmare too
- I might just throw it away and start again. Don't let this stand in your
way, I just thought I'd let you know my longer-term plans.
Cheers,
Simon
