We speak for Earth in a clear, passionate and truthful manner, even if our voice trembles at times as we together with you challenge powerful interests. We have faith that green truth will prevail and are immune to ridicule and ignorance. There is no one else working globally to tackle all the toughest issues: including ending coal, all old forest logging, geo-engineering and biomass based biofuels; while promoting a bright green vision of an equitable, just and sustainable future. Ecological Internet is the model of dedication to Earth. Despite having had to reduce staff due to decreased funding, and having been severely sick over the past six months, I have worked several 2-3 hour shifts daily to make sure the work continues (and have mostly recovered). We benefit from scientific advice from some of the best ecological scientists alive. Ecological Internet is strong, providing the leading voice globally on the net for deep ecology, and our efforts are assuredly ongoing. Yet, reaching our funding goal is much harder now than it has been, as there has been an explosion in the number of groups working on the Internet for the environment. But not all ecological advocacy messages are created equal, and many are lacking in ecological science. Very few new and even existing efforts are run by a Ph.D. ecologist, pursuing only sufficient actions necessary to maintain the biosphere. For example, just as war is not peace, FSC logging is not compatible with ending primary forest logging. There is too much such doublespeak and greenwashing occurring, which we fearlessly reveal. Ecological Internet promises you that we will remain true to the cause of biocentric thought and action that is ecologically sufficient to achieve global ecological sustainability. We do not seek to build a large, well-staffed eco-empire, to sell you green products, or to be misinformed hipster poseurs. All we care about is being effective advocates. We promise to continue speaking ecological truth to power, regardless of the consequences. We will target whoever is taking actions contrary to our shared ecological survival, and are prepared to ask for tough measures that may be before their time, but are ecologically based and necessary now. Ecological Internet really needs your help to reach the goal of $50K to be maximally effective by hiring programming and fund-raising help. Thus far we have raised $21K, 43% to the goal. At a bare minimum, at least $10K more is required to keep our servers going and basic staffing. Over the past year Ecological Internet's "End Ancient Forest Logging" campaign has essentially, on its own, nudged the forest movement to embrace a vision of ending primary forest logging as a keystone response to climate and biodiversity crises, including forcing major ecologically challenged forest organizations to reappraise their flawed forest campaigns; have stopped major oil palm developments in the Ivory Coast and Papua Guinea; and led in stopping increased logging in Oregon. Millions have been informed on biocentric eco-policy from our thought-provoking academic essays, and one of a kind informatics tools. Ecological Internet has done this and more for years on a budget equivalent to one big NGO staff person's salary. Along the way we invented blogging and ecological search engines, and developed a genre of green rage essays now widely copied. Because of our ecological savvy and independence from all outside pressures; we speak ecological truth like no one else. We try to dismantle, not reform, industries that should not exist in the first place. Please, if you can, we need your support.
