Exactly,
and conversely if someone added a text file with -kb then it would appear
to work for them while they stay on the same client except of course no
merging is done so concurrency is lost. But as soon as they check it out from
a client on another system they will have the wrong line endings...

sorry for the unintelligble reply...i was trying to point out that the
fact that binary files are getting munged on checkout (LF --> CRLF)
indicates that they were probably added without specifying the -kb flag
