Hi Rob, Thanks for the suggestion, I tried the path as opt/local/lib and /usr/local/lib but neither worked - still returning the same error. I am using the python.org installer, so I imagine that is MacPython?

I am using a Macports Python install. In my case it was fixed by setting the library path variable: LIBRARY_PATH='/opt/local/lib' python3.1 setup.py install --user Maybe you need to set the include path as well. I see you are doing a universal binary build (-arch i368 -arch x86), probably because you are using a universal binary MacPython? I don't have experience on this one since I'm using Macports.
