Bill, thank you for your thoughtful and well written response. Unfortunately, some of the items which should appear when I very carefully follow your instructions, do not appear or do not function. I wonder if we might continue this conversation by direct email. If you would send me your email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] I will tell you what seems to be different on my screen from what you indicate. The quick-guess answer is possibly in your "Save" dialogue box, your drop-down menu might be set to .GSN instead of .GMV? Otherwise, here's a step-by-step "How to start a Cyberboard game" thing I've cut/pasted below: For more complex games (games with cards or hidden units or multiplayer options, like PoG (Paths of Glory): 1. Start CBPlay 2. File ==> New... 3. A small dialogue box opens up, select "Game" 4. A dialogue Box "Select Initial Scenario for Game" opens. Navigate to the folder where the .GAM game and .GSN scenario files are located. Select the appropriate scenario file, and click "open." 5. A new dialogue box opens titled "Creating Multiplayer Game." Note the option for a referee game file and check it if needed. Review the player names/sides and select the first player (Central Powers in this case). You have the option to rename the sides if you wish. Then click on "OK" when ready. 6. A new dialogue box opens up titled "Select Base Name for Player Game Files." In the File Name field, type in an appropriate name and click "Save." 7. A message box opens telling you to distribute the game files "as required" i.e. send the appropriate .GAM file to your opponent. Click "OK" and that message box closes. 8. Now, "File ==> Open ..." and select the first-player .GAM file. In some gameboxes the map opens up. With Thierry Aradan's gamebox you'll see the "Game Project" window. 9. From the left column under "Playing Boards" select the map and double click it. The map opens. Adjust the vertical dividing bar between the Main playing window and the right-hand window with the "Mini-Map" and the "Unit Display Area." 10. Once the map is open, you're ready to game. 11. Draw Cards, play the appropriate card, move units ("Select" units by clicking them directly or click-dragging a selection box around them. You can also "Ctrl-click" units within a stack to pick out select units. "Selected Units" appear in the right hand Unit Display window. There the "Delete" button de-selects units you don't want. 12. "Selected Units" now have Move options available via the "Action" menu or by right-clicking on the map which pops up the Action options as a context-sensitive menu. 13. Once your turn is done, "File ==> Send Recorded Moves to File..." 14. A dialogue box opens "Enter a Move File Name" and type in an appropriate name (e.g. PoG_Turn_01a) and click "Save." An "Enter Move Description" dialogue opens. Fill it out and click "OK" to finish saving the .GMV move file. 15. Now "File ==> Save AS" to name your .GAM file 16. Now send the .GMV file to your Opponent. 17. Now your opponent, the 2nd player, opens CBPlay, then "File ==> Open" and selects the .GAM file that was sent him from Step 7. And repeats 8-10 to get the map open. 18. Then he selects "File ==> Load Recorded Move File" and selects the .GMV file you just sent him. 19. Then from "Playback" on the Top Line menu, or the "VCR playback" Icons or using F2 and F3, he _must_ play the recorded move files. Then he selects "Playback ==> Accept Move File Playback." Clicks "Yes to confirm it. (Unless opponent has made mistakes.) 20. Now "File ==> Save As..." and name the .GAM something appropriate and he's ready to conduct his turn, and then "File ==> Send Recorded Moves to File..." and generate his .GMV Move file to send to you. Probably way too much info, but I thought this possibly might be of help to Frank Mickelsen. Bill [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
