Robert, In CBPlay go to the Window menu and choose Cascade (or Tile ...), then select the pieces you want to move and drag them to the window with the board you want. You can also create a new piece tray (or just reuse an existing one) and move pieces from one board to the tray, then switch boards and move them from the tray onto the new board.
