"Justice Dept. Urges Cops to Keep Up With Cybercrime"
Newsbytes (08/31/00)

The Justice Department released a report late last week
warning that criminals are threatening to lap law enforcement
agencies in terms of Internet and technology sophistication.
"Computer and high-tech crime is one of the greatest
challenges confronting the law enforcement community around
the world," said U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno. Reno called
upon the public and private sectors to work together to
develop defenses against cybercrime. The Justice Department
report recommends that several steps be taken to fight
cybercrime. These steps include the updating of current laws,
private-public sector cooperation, and improving data
reporting.
