Democracy is about having a referendum on every issue.

You are correct on the subject of Democracy. In ancient
Greece only people of noble blood were allowed to rule,
something like the system we have here in the UK today.

It was a noble persons right to rule and he would step
forward and put his name down for the job. He was
affectionately called a Tyrant. One such Tyrant thought
he would be smart an set up a deal with the feared Spartans,
a local crowed of nutters. In those day's Greece was
split into many provinces and Athens was just one of
many, not all that important. The Spartans were the
football louts of their day and the rest of Greece feared
them.

The Tyrant and the Spartans formed an alliance and
took control of Athens but the locals were none to
happy. One night they took to the streets and set about
sorting the problem out. The Tyrant and his band of men took
refuge in the Acropolis but were soon overcome by the people.

Now the people were in control and decided to form a
Democracy. Every 9 day's they would meet to discuss
policies and referendums, every one had a right to vote,
a white stone for yes and a black stone for no, it was that
simple.

Yes I have been watching the History Channel.

In this country Kings and Queens come and go, Lords
make decisions, Governments make up policies one day
and another Government changes them the next. Just think
one day Sir Elton John or Sir Paul McCartney might make it
to the Lords and make us all buy their music. What we
desperately need in this country is a written declaration
for the people by the people.
