The news from USA is that the Million Mom March has turned itself into
the American equivalent of Snowdrop Campaign and their next venue is at
Columbine School in Denver, Colorado.

I enclose below a letter of support I wrote rather hurriedly in the
small hours of this morning, which has just appeared on their elist.

Perhaps you, and other Cybershooters would like to offer them the
benefit of our experience, so that history does not repeat itself?

Alex.

Subject: Infestation in Denver

Dear Sir,

I read with much concern that the Million Mom March has turned itself
into a permanent anti-gun lobby and that its next venue is in Denver.

As you probably know, we had a school shooting in Dunblane, Scotland, in
1996 when 16 children were killed by a local nutter with a grudge
against society. We also had a similar "infestation" in the form of
Snowdrop Campaign immediately after the shooting, which delivered a
petition with 750,000 signatures to the then prime minister demanding
the total ban of pistols.

We did not react at the time out of respect for the grief of the
victims'
families, despite the fact that they all supported the anti-gun
campaign. We found out later that the 750,000 signatures contained many,
probably the majority from under age children who were coerced into
signing by their teachers whilst at school! Many of these children were
from primary schools, too young to understand what they were signing
anyway.

Million Mom March, or by whatever name they call themselves now, has
nothing to do with Columbine shooting, nor any other shooting. They are
a political pressure group working with full support of the Clinton
administration and they have no place in any school and should not be
allowed anywhere near school children.

As any half-wit knows, criminally insane and generally deranged people
cannot be effectively prevented from committing horrible crimes. The
massacre in Dunblane in 1996 could have been achieved with a can of
gasoline, poison in the public water system, a shotgun, driving a car
into a bus queue, not to mention several millions of illegal guns that
remain easily available and quite a number of household appliances too.

Not only that the criminally insane cannot be stopped, but no law that
governs the law abiding people can have any effect whatsoever on
criminals.

Anyone who genuinely believes that banning the private ownership of any
type of gun can prevent another school shooting, or have any effect on
crime is an irresponsible nutter himself/herself and certainly not fit
to teach children or run for any kind of public office.

If I were in your shoes and I consider myself most unfortunate that I am
not, I would be careful not to resort to any violent confrontation that
the antis can use for propaganda against you, but I would make sure that
the local school teachers and the local government people are fully
aware of your views and the determination to boot them out of office if
they involve themselves in any political activity not in keeping with
the best principles of freedom, democracy and law and order.

The only sure way to prevent another school shooting is to make
absolutely sure that every teacher and child able to use a handgun is a
better shot than the lunatics that threaten their lives!

With Best Wishes,
Yours sincerely,

Alex Hamilton,

Denver isn't that close to Columbine, are you sure they're going
to the school?

Steve.
