Not sure I agree with the point on self-sealing fuel
tanks. Apparently the RAF rejected them initially when
Dowding was presented with the weight penalty figures
for 'crash proof' fuel tanks for fighters rather than
self sealing tanks.
Certain accounts I have read place the use of
self-sealing tanks with the RAF as late 1940, others
towards August 1940. But in limited numbers.
