~reminds me of the massive derringer on display
at Pistol AD some years ago that was chambered in .444~
Many years ago when I was very young I shot in a competition
at the Ruthin range in North Wales. One of the locals showed
up with a Remington type derringer that had been gimicked so
that both barrels fired together. It was in 45 Long Colt and
his handloads used as much black powder as he could stuff in
the case. After witnessing it being fired I decided that it
was more fun than a strong man could stand and declined the
owner's kind offer to have a go.
This implement made your hands go numb and the flash and smoke
made you think you had gone blind. My Dad warned me about that
sort of thing but I didn't know he was talking about shooting
a derringer.
