The Vulcans flew from Ascension. I remember seeing a diagram of the
refueling plan. It took 11 refueling aircraft, Victors and Hercules, to
get two Vulcans to the target and back. Each Vulcan had to refuel 17
times.
One of the Vulcans broke its refueling probe on the way back and had to
divert to Rio de Janeiro.
