Having looked up "Explosives" in a number of
encyclopaedias over a number of years I've become
resigned to the disappearance of the correct
percentage composition for classical black powder.
I'm not at all happy about the disappearance of
Lyddite and Bentonite.
I'm suspicious about the assertion that black powder
is made commercially by crushing the wet mixture under
heavy rollers and grinding it.
I've had grave doubts about whether the IRA ever
ground up ammonium nitrate to a fine powder in food
blenders.
I've had doubts about the safety of using anything but
diesel fuel with ammonium nitrate.
I've also become suspicious about the "drying of
water" from glycerine and nitric acid with sulphuric
acid when making nitroglycerine.
Is it me, or are we being murderously lied to in
print?

Norman Bassett
