i use a white strobe when riding to work at night.Everyone sees it much better than a standard light.

Riding the fx7.3, a hybrid. I did see someone else riding but did not hook up. But I was riding thru Cavalier on the streets-11-12. The strobe light was a gift from the instigator who got me hooked. He got it from Don's and I think the light was <$20. I probably need one for the front. Practicing standing up on hills: clyde st, from kenan for steepness and from canal for length of a climb, repeats. I know that is not much but it is a start for a novice like myself. Did ~25m thru many neighborhoods. Nearly full moon and great lightning show. My instigator hooked me on these night rides also!
