The breakfast crew became the dinner crew Friday evening as we gathered for Lasagna and pre ride drinks at Olive Garden in Cary. James, Pete, Dave W., Steve B., Mike T., Susan and myself gathered again in Hillsborough along with 850 other cyclist for Bike Fest. 63 miles of continuous hills with fresh baked breads and cookies at the rest stops. Cloud cover kept most of the ride pleasant. The single speed didn't like a couple of those hills but we managed. No flats, no crashes. We started at the back because Pete's not happy unless he passes two or three hundred folks along the way. A couple state trooper motorcycle escorts kept us flowing through all intersections for the first 10 miles. Great ride! The hills also made for a nice tune up ride for CNC next month for some of us.
