Sounds like everyone had some good riding this weekend.

The family saddled up the poor jeep with bikes and camping gear to head
up to the mountains for the weekend. I really need to get some new
shocks for the jeep...but that's another story. Should have taken a
picture of the poor thing. Kim, imagine all the bikes plus camping gear!

We met with a bunch of the TORC crowd at the campsite in Almond and
discussed riding options. Saturday we rode at Tsali and had a blast. Fun
and fast trails. Cynthia got to take off with the early crowd while the
kids and I got some more breakfast and got ready for the trail. We got
to the trail head just and Cynthia came back from the first loop and
took Rachael out while I took Ethan out.

Ethan and I rode the Thompson loop together. I have decided that he will
from this point on carry ALL the water, tools, repair gear and some
added lead weight because he is a mountain goat! The first half of the
trail I was up front going pretty good. About mid way I asked if he
wanted to lead the way and he said sure. Well, he started leaving me on
the climbs! Couldn't believe it. Finally I told him to go ahead and just
wait for me at the hill tops and then we'd bomb down the trail together.
At least I still have him on the downhill!!!! (although we were
pedalling so hard I was running out of gears)

That good day of riding ended with the kids swimming in a local creek
with cool, crystal clear water!

On Sunday we jumped in the cars for a 1 hour ride over to the Jackrabbit
trail to meet up with another club. I think there was about 60 people
all together. Great crowd and an awesome trail that they put together.
They were a blast to ride. Everyone, from 5-60, was able to ride the
trails. It was a stacked trail system so the further from the trailhead
you went the more technical it got. I rode the first loop with Rachael
and her friend Bella while Cynthia and Ethan took off. Later, I got a
chance to ride further back in the trails but the rain dumped on us
pretty good and chewed up the last of my rear brake pads...riding fast
in wet clay conditions with only a front brake, not good. We finished of
the ride with a great (slightly soggy) trailhead cookout while the kids
were swimming in the lake.

We stopped by the Joyce Kilmer Forest on the way back to see a 450 year
old poplar tree cove. That was really an incredible old growth forest.
Some of the trees were so big the branches were the size of trees here!
Made me think of the trees in that movie Avatar.

A great weekend...sorry to see it go and get back to work.
