I think you need a REAL mechanic for that!
Someone who works for real money instead of a six pack!
Carbon is a tricky material and you might also need paperwork for insurance
purposes.
Those were nice cranks, hopefully you can salvage something for memories sake!

Tim, If I brought you my bike would you be able to take it apart and
determine what can be salvaged? (no hurry) It appears that the new crank I
bought is in good condition. (Maybe?) I actually can't tell about the other
components. Handlebars are definitely goners. Head tube (I think that's what
it's called.) is severed in two pieces.

Or should I just take it to the bike shop? kp

Ha! I've got much to be thankful for today. Mostly, I thank
God for sending me the angels. I'm doing well (which is more than I can say
for my bike that is in 3 pieces). My back is very sore, my face is very ugly
and I'm walking a little funny. Other than that I'm great. I was very
fortunate that the car that turned in front of my was a convertible. That gave
me a clear vault. I hit on the back half of the car and went over. Too bad I
couldn't slap the driver in the head as I went by. :) I really don't remember
much between impact with the car and impact with the asphalt. Lots of nice
people stopped to help. The driver stopped and was very apologetic. A nurse
was in a nearby store and came out to help. The only immediate pain I felt was
in my back. I was conscious at all times. I asked her tons of questions
assessing my body since I couldn't sit up. How are my legs? Any gashes or bad
scrapes? etc. The worst scrapes are on my face. Ughhh. Someone immediately
asked if I was O.K. I think it's probably one of the first times I've had to
tell a stranger "No" to that question. Ambulance came, got the collar
treatment (although it wouldn't fit right because my jaw was swelling so bad at
that point). When they were getting ready to lift me by that very hard board
onto the stretcher, I told them to be careful because I was very heavy.

Nick, the officer told my husband it would be about 6 days
before the report was complete. He said he was not clear as to whether the car
hit me or I hit the car. Ha! Implying that fault was in question. I may need
you after-all.

Thanks again for the well wishes. I'll be cheering from the
sidelines for the BSG riders next weekend! Guess I need to start shopping for
a new bike.

                  Be safe, kp
