The group headed out Nash Street to Bend of the River, over to 97, back to Vickers Rd, Tonya Road to Homestead Rd then to Stagecoach Rd on to Sharpe Store Rd and into Elm City heading back in via Lake Wilson Rd to Nash to OSB. Route was 28 miles at a pace of 16-17 into the wind and 19-20+ out of the wind. No frost bite and smiles all around after the ride. Thanks to DC and Jon for hanging on to me along the way. A lot of auto traffic on todays route. As this ride took place with the temperature at or under freezing, together with noticeable wind, this is a certified Klondike ride, snow would have made it world class but you can’t get it all I guess. Belgian medals for all! P.S. The Santos Tour Down Under has turned out to be a very close race. The Top three riders, Cameron Meyer (Garmin-Cervelo) is first, Mathew Goss (HTC-Highroad) is second 8 seconds back and Laurne ten Dam (Rabbobank) is 10 seconds back. The next 12 riders are within 28 seconds. The final stage is a 90km sprint around city streets in Adelaide, the “dash for the cash” as some are calling it.
