Welcome to Wilson Chris! The CoW's are not very organized except for the standing Sat am & Sun afternoon rides. During the spring - early fall there are Tues & Thurs rides. As most everyone is familiar with the county roads, there aren't any "standing" routes per se.
Pacing all depends on who shows up. There are riders that pace at 15 - 17 and other at 21+ and everything in between. My name is Chris. I live in Winterville/Greenville, but have just recently taken a job offer and am working in Wilson at the hospital now. With my work schedule and the time it takes to drive to and from Wilson/Winterville, I am not able to make some of my usual team rides now. In the middle of the summer I am able to get on my bike at 5am before work some days so it's no big deal. But now with sunrise coming later my 5am rides are not really feasible anymore. I loathe my trainer and try to avoid it at all costs. I ran across your group and thought this might be my answer. I've been browsing through the posts trying to get some questions answered. Do you guys have "usual" routes and are they mapped anywhere on a site like MayMyRide or similar? Do you guys typically do scheduled Wednesday and/or Thursday night rides? Meaning, if someone needed to ride on those nights could they pretty much count on a COWS ride to be available? What are the usual ride distances/time duration/wattage/speedavg or whatever metric most of you guys use. Would be nice if anyone could tell me what the usual time duration and average wattage (would need your body weight included) is like for your evening rides, but I'll take any metric you use. I'm just trying to see what your rides are like. Do they tend to be tempo or interval in nature. Or do your rides just end up being whatever whoever makes it be? I apologize for all the questions. Just hoping to be able to hook up with some folks in Wilson some when my work scheduled prevents me riding in Greenville.
