A group of 9 left DD into a vicious wind. Both Wallys, Dale, Bob L, Doc, Nick, Kaiser, Lucas and I, the route has already been posted. Cross wind going out pace line was weaving in the wind like a drunk on Sat night. More on cross wind later. Head wind on Hornes Ch and Strickland, Lucas foreshadows the second half of the ride with a monster effort on Strickland into the wind, Nick, Wally, Dale and Kaiser jump on and follow suit. After a re group at the store we are eagerly awaiting the tailwind and it was not a let down. 28/30 down 97 with very little effort. Nick, Lucas and Wally pull away with speeds approaching 40 mph. Re group at farm PAC store, strong finish as front group hammers in. LW drops the hammer on Cliftonville and still manages to pull all of hwy 58. Bob L and I are fighting it out for the LR when a cross wind gust hits us just as hwy 58 becomes four lane, blows both of us across the lane to the yellow line, we were fighting as much as possible and could do nothing. One car blew the horn at us as they pasted by the other two pulled way over and gave us plenty of space. 12 mph avg going out, finished with an 18 mph for the ride. Great day to be on the bike. Jim
