I've never done such. I can't imagine how hard it is to do. Looking forward to you taking me to school on the bike going up Pilot Mt next month. I was really hoping to report that I finished my marathon in gold time of 3:30-3:45 and feel great at the end…..not so much. If I have ever hit the wall at something this was it. (or lets say my legs hit the wall) I started out great and for the first 19 miles my pace was 8:14 mile. I was not winded and knew I was not pushing my pace to much, BUT my legs started to fail. At mile 20-21 I had to walk a short distance for the first time. My legs were starting to feel like they had never felt before. I was able to push through it until about mile 22. I again needed to walk…a little longer this time..maybe 100 yards. At mile 23.5 my legs were done. I have never felt pain like that before in my legs and I just could not run anymore. So the long walk began….one foot in front of the other. There were a few times when my legs just about buckled under me. The last water table was at about mile 25. The volunteers were great and keep pushing me “only 1.2 miles to go” ….this was the longest 1.2 miles of my life. Lol I kept walking and at this point it was more like a shuffle. (took me about 20min to walk the that mile) The closer I got to the finish the more people there were along the street encouraging everyone to finish. One guy said “only .2 left buddy you can do it” so somehow I managed to make myself jog the last little bit. About 75 yards from the finish my dad and Linda were standing waiting on me. I knew they were worried because I was more then 45min over my goal time. Linda jogged with me for about 50 yards pushing me to make it. I crossed the finish at about 4:27:00. Lesson learned: not enough long distance runs before the race. Although I was ready, my legs were not. Linda asked me if I was disappointed in my finish. Yes I wanted to make my goal, but overall I felt good about the race because I truly gave it my all. My legs would not give me anymore then they did and I did not end up with a DNF! Bert ask me on facebook if I am sore today…YES I am very sore. Riding a bike is so much more fun! :-) >DC > > > > > >________________________________ >From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Sent: Monday, March 19, 2012 12:31 PM >Subject: Re: [COWs] Good Luck DC! > > >David, >Dude, how did it go?? >Fill me in > >Sent from my Verizon Wireless Phone > >----- Reply message ----- >From: "David Caudle" <[email protected]> >To: "[email protected]" ><[email protected]> >Subject: [COWs] Good Luck DC! >Date: Sun, Mar 18, 2012 5:44 am > > >Thanks Turbo Dan.
