This will be a perfect tune up for CDA...well I guess it could be better if
there were hills in Washington.   CDA is VERY cold but you get over it quick
with 2500 people hitting you!  Be sure to save your legs 1st lap of the bike.
I rode 5:10 there and blew myself up for the run.  Lots of hills but beautiful
area.
I do best when I only take in water for the first 30 min of bike in an ironman
then start with calories.  Otherwise I get the same cramps and nausea that you
mentioned.    What nutrition are you using?  What's your calories per he plan
on bike and run?  How many calories before race?
Whatever your plan is, stick to it and trust it.  It looks like we may catch a
break on weather this weekend.

Thanks David and Jon for the comments.  I am doing the 100 as a "practice" run
for my IM in June.  What was I thinking; couldn't I have practiced with the
50?  Oh well, it will be a good practice run for fueling, equipment (which is
one reason why I want to wear the full sleeves; Coeur D'Alene has very cold
water), pacing, etc.  I'm a bit nervous about the fueling.  I'm trying new
products that I've tested in training but not yet raced with.  And I think
fueling has been a big issue for me in the past; nausea and basically giving
out of energy too early with long events.  Also got to watch my pacing, as I'm
a bit competitive.  I'm not supposed to "race" this event as I'll have no
recovery time.  Recovery gets a little tougher when you hit my age group.
Hope to see everyone there!  Good luck to all.  Hope everyone has a safe and
successful race.  kp
