FRIDAY: After tarnishing my image, being the first ever CoW to ride SAG on a
donut ride, I decided to patch things up a bit. I cruised out with legendary
randos, Mike Dayton and Jerry Phelps Friday afternoon from North Raleigh.
Destination, Clarksville VA. 3 guys sporting steel bikes, dressed out in
fenders. 10 mins. into the ride, we're forced off the road under a church
canopy by severe storm with fierce lightning. 15 min. delay we cruise on. 20
min. later forced off the road again by a second storm. Best lightning storm
I've seen in a long time, Storm from hell. Finally things settle down, as
well as the temps and we have a pleasant ride up to the Kerr Lake dam in VA.,
arriving at sunset. From there to Clarksville and dinner. (Mile 78) Back into
NC., Mountain Road at mile 100 around 11:30pm., then 30 miles back to North
Raleigh. Finished up around 1:30am with 130 miles. Drove home, shower and a 3
hour nap.

SATURDAY: Susan, Dave Williams, Beamon, Jonathan, James (sporting a new Madone)
and I cruise to Middlesex. Met most of you returning from Middlesex. We
returned to Bailey for mandatory breakfast after James spanks us up a few
hills. Oh yea, I think he likes his new bike. Tailwind coming home that
allows us to get home before the real heat arrives. James spanks us one more
time on the Horne's Church overpass. Maybe it's time I get a new bike. Jeez!
Great ride, 40 miles and home shortly after 10:00. Recover drinks, shower, and
I'm going to bed.
