Thanks guys! And thanks for the newspaper suggestion. My shoes are still wet....

Can't say I "enjoyed" the run in the wind and rain yesterday but it wasn't all that bad. Started pouring the last mile so I picked up the pace -- mile 21 was at 8:32 :) Felt good throughout and feel great today so I think I'm ready for MCM in 3 weeks (10/28), and then OBX marathon 2 weeks after that (11/11).

Someone remind me again why I thought that was a good idea?? Oh yeah, couldn't pass up a good deal on MCM. Thanks Jonathan!

In case you guys don't know of this trick...

For wet shoes, stuff with newspaper. after a few hours change out the paper. they should be dry by morning.

After Birdman and Marian exercise better judgment the Ronnie, Kaiser and LR continue on Bernd of the River. The rain picks up quickly and by the time
the trio crosses the reservoir bridge everyone is soaked to the bone.
Temps hang in the lower 50s and the head wind remains until we hit 97.
Turning on to 97 headed back to Wilson we pickup the tail wind. Off
of 97, around the airport and around past the race track on to London
Church. Ronnie takes the first hill on Lake Wilson then peals off for
home, Kaiser and LR climb the second hill together and roll back in on
Nash St. I showed 28 miles with a 19.5 average. Strong pulls all the
way around. Great enjoyment, yep that's right enjoyment had by all.

The first Belgian of the fall/winter riding season reminded us of just
what that term means; wet cold and wind. I have been on a ride when
it rained harder but not one where I was any wetter, we reached the saturation point.
Many thanks to all who rode. glad to meet Steve S sister Marian. She
certainly gave a strong account of herself. Jim, Ronnie and Kaiser
strong as always.

A great way to celebrate Columbus Day!

LR, Kaiser, Ronnie and Marian set out from DD into a strong N/NE wind
to do bend of the river, airport route. I was planning to bail at old
carriage due to time constraints. Ronnie says we are in a hole in the
rain and should be ok. Sure enough we get out to bend of the river it
starts to rain. Marian and I turn off on old carriage the rest
continue on. Marian says she hates the rain, Smooth pavement on hwy
97 only makes feet get wetter. By LCR feet are so cold they hurt.
Pick up the pace to get home quick. Marian gets motivated and attacks lake Wilson hill at 24.
Get back to DD and the rain stops. 20 miles 19 avg.
Great day to be on the bike, first Belgian of the year!
