GNU libtool is a generic library support script. Libtool hides the complexity of using shared libraries behind a consistent, portable interface.
This is a routine update to one of the more recent releases from the 1.5 branch. It has been available from the mirrors since last July, and as an official cygwin test release since January. (The actual latest release from that branch at this time is "1.5.26" but it has not been tested thoroughly enough on cygwin). While the upstream libtool team has released libtool-2.2, there are still a few issues that preclude an official cygwin package. These have been resolved in libtool CVS, so I expect to release an official cygwin libtool2.2 package once the upstream team releases version 2.2.2. Be forewarned, however, that libtool1.5 and libtool2.2 cannot coexist in the same installation tree (that is, with the same prefix=/usr) -- so official cygwin packages of libtool1.5 and libtool2.2 cannot both be installed at the same time. -- Chuck ==================================================================== To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Then, run setup and answer all of the questions. *** CYGWIN-ANNOUNCE UNSUBSCRIBE INFO *** If you want to unsubscribe from the cygwin-announce mailing list, look at the "List-Unsubscribe: " tag in the email header of this message.
