GNU's been threatening to make POSIX the default for over a decade now, it's just that some openSUSE maintainer sprung into action a bit prematurely on that issue. The PAX extended headers are not needed by setup whatever their content may be AFAIK, but it would be nice if they didn't produce spuroius warnings or errors.
