In any case, since a bunch of Ports packages depend on that library, you'll need to coordinate the move into Cygwin with Yaakov. Since you're planning to package a new version, I think this would be easiest if you only added packages, but otherwise kept the packaging the same, so that the Cygwin package was a drop-in replacement.
