I was trying to understand your last addendum
but I am not sure if cygport-3.12 will manage also
the oct files of octave-forge that is a separate
package from octave.
Otherwise I will add a "brutal"
find ${D} -name "*.oct" -exec strip \{\} \;
at the end of src_install()
