Hi,

I have a question about the relationship between the cygwin ports and cygwin
projects. Unfortunately the cygwin ports website does not really clarify
this. Is it the case that cygwin ports is a kind of test bed for packages
that will eventually wind up in cygwin's repositories through an established
procedure? Or are these repositories completely separate and independent?
If it is the latter, two questions arise: 1) how coherence between the two
repositories is maintained to ensure all package dependencies are compatible
and don't accidentally break packages in the other repository, and 2) is it
worthwhile to contribute packages to the cygwin repository which they
presently lack, but which are provided in cygwin ports?

Thanks in advance from a long-time cygwin user.
