Actually, I noticed it recently when testing an attempted x86_64 build of gimp (and then seeing it on x86 as well). I was able to rule out my gimp patchset, as it occurs both with and without it, but otherwise, despite several attempts, I have been unable to pinpoint the cause. The problem with narrowing this down is that so much has changed since cygwin-1.7.10 that simply reverting cygwin1.dll while leaving everything else where it is may not work. That being said, if you have the time to debug this, I would be grateful.
