A file, startxwin.bat used to be included with earlier versions of cygwin-xfree. I just installed the (required) packages of cygwin-xfree 4.2, and couldn't find the file. Has it been removed? startxwin is a convelient way of starting up X because it also starts up twm and xterm on the same time.
