Please be aware that Shift Function Key (e.g., Shift + F3) is not working with xkeyboard-config-2.4.1-1. You can verify that by running xev.
This problem is known in X11 community and apparently a fix is on its way and may already be available in 2.4.1-r2 - see http://forums.funtoo.org/viewtopic.php?id=817.
