Windows 7, Cygwin [1.7] latest snapshot 20091012. Comparing two large subdirectories with diff leads to error msg. Output from cygcheck -srv attached.
~> diff -rq /d/home /m/home6 [main] diff 3720 sig_send: error sending signal -34 to pid 3720, pipe handle 0x10C, Win32 error 998 5069911 [main] diff 3720 sig_send: error sending signal -34 to pid 3720, pipe handle 0x10C, Win32 error 998 13992405 [main] diff 3720 sig_send: error sending signal -34 to pid 3720, pipe handle 0x10C, Win32 error 998
Any ideas? Unfortunately this error is intermittent. Sometimes (usually, actually) I can perform the identical comparison without any obvious glitches. It may be another (or related) manifestation of a bad interplay between W7, Cygwin and McAfee in the workplace, previously reported.
(See in particular http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2009-10/msg00385.html. This is really ruining my Cygwin experience. Needless to say, merely offering this as a hypothesis - that McAfee is to blame - to local IT chieftains, went down pretty badly.)
