Have a look at the colorgcc package as well. (Unfortunately its default config is broken, looking for gcc in /usr/local/bin. Hence you need to either edit the global config at /etc/colorgcc/colorgccrc or copy it to ~/.colorgccrc and change the paths to /usr/bin. You can also change the colours for various messages there.)
