Likely, you didn't start the system bus (the scenario is only about the session bus). I've committed a patch to the Emacs-23 branch which ought to handle this situation: 2010-10-08 Michael Albinus <michael.albi...@gmx.de> * dbusbind.c (xd_get_dispatch_status): Return a Lisp_Object. (xd_pending_messages): Catch xd_get_dispatch_status calls. I don't know, whether this has reached already in Cygwin's Emacs package. However, if you are using D-Bus you shall ensure that both the system and session buses are running.
