Or rather more succinctly: "Cygwin, what is the path to the current user's home directory?" IMO it would be simpler for cygpath to have a flag for this so we can simply ask directly instead of collecting stdout from a shell command. But as I noted - requesting it from a shell _does_ work - my thought is simply that this would be a rather useful option to have in cygpath.
