I tried two things (though may not make sense). Renamed that DLL -- same behavior, and same access violation in WinDbg. Killed all Beyond Trust Services/Tasks -- same behavior.

Could be. Is Beyond Trust something that you have control over? Can you uninstall it, or temporarily suspend it, or tell it to exclude certain directories?
