Sorry about a new thread, but I just subscribed to this list.

Using 3.6.1-1 works fine. I am very sure this is based on the same issue that
others have reported.

Here is what I see:
  [148118.718] (EE) Fatal server error:
[148118.718] (EE) Linking lock file (/tmp/.X0-lock) in place failed:
Permission denied

Which makes no sense, bash reports:
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ ls -ld /tmp
  drwxrwxrwt 1 Unknown+User Unknown+Group 0 Jun 4 09:16 /tmp
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ ls -l /tmp/.X0-lock
ls: cannot access '/tmp/.X0-lock': No such file or directory
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ touch /tmp/.X0-lock
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ ls -l /tmp/.X0-lock
  -r--r--r-- 1 Unknown+User Unknown+Group 0 Jun 4 09:22 /tmp/.X0-lock
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ rm /tmp/.X0-lock
rm: remove write-protected regular empty file '/tmp/.X0-lock'? y
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$

Doing more testing shows that

  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ cd /home/dslutz/cygwin-te st/
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ touch bad
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ ls -l
  total 0
  -r--r--r-- 1 Unknown+User Unknown+Group 0 Jun 4 13:47 bad
  -rw-rw-r-- 1 Unknown+User Unknown+Group 0 Jun 4 13:44 good
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$ ls -ln
  total 0
  -r--r--r-- 1 4294967295 4294967295 0 Jun 4 13:47 bad
  -rw-rw-r-- 1 4294967295 4294967295 0 Jun 4 13:44 good
  Unknown+User@CPC-dslut-3Q3JN$

But I do see that the ACLs on the files are different and is most likely why
XWin is failing.

mintty has the the issue reported in:

looks like the key in that I get for "getent passwd $(id -u)":

NASUNI+dslutz:*:4096:4096:U-NASUNI\dslutz,S-1-12-1-3596282818-1216142758-3954360507-2609862755:/home/dslutz:/bin/bash

I also have some the same issues with UID, GID like

reports. But I do not see the bad UID, GID on files that Markus sees.

I can run any tests in a short amount of time.

Hope this helps.
