Well, since POSIX doesn't have anything like "long file names" I think you could say this isn't really a bug. The -l is a no-op in this case.
Or one could always submit a patch...

The ostensibly failing mode is conversion _to_ a Windows format, not to POSIX format.
You know, it just occurred to me that if I submitted half as many patches to open source projects as I put onto my bike's tires, I'd be a hero.
